STAINLESS MACHINE

MACHINES

Polyethylene benches, also known as stainless workbenches, are generally used in hotels, restaurants, restaurants, university and school cafeterias, catering companies, butchers and markets. The construction of all benches are made of stainless steel.

STAINLESS STEEL

Stainless steels are an alloy of iron. It should contain max 1.2% C and min 10.5% Cr element. The importance of the Cr element used in stainless steel; It creates an oxide layer (Cr2O3) on the surface of the materials and thus protects the material from oxygen.

Cr and passivation rate in stainless steel determines the stainless quality of the steel. The oxide layer formed on the surface of the material is too thin to be seen with the eye and at the same time it is waterproof.

Types of Stainless Steel

1. Ferritic Stainless Steels

These types of stainless steels contain low Carbon (C) and contain between 12-18% Chromium (Cr). They provide moderate corrosion resistance. It cannot be shaped easily like austenitic steels. They show magnetic properties and their strength cannot be increased by heat treatment.

Some Areas of Usage: Decorative applications, kitchen utensils, automobile chassis parts, exhaust elements, hot water tanks ...

2. Austenitic Stainless Steels

If stainless steels with austenitic structure at high temperatures and chromium (Cr) content of more than 0,1% are given water; The austenitic structure turns into martensitic structure. Martensitic structure is a structure with high hardness and strength, but; its fragility is also relatively higher. Since excessive hardness will also bring brittleness, the hardness can be reduced a little by annealing during the manufacturing phase and the strength can be brought to the desired level. They have moderate corrosion resistance, magnetic, heat-treatable and low weldability. Some Uses: Knives, surgical instruments ...

3. Martensitic Stainless Steels

When nickel is added in stainless steel, an austenitic structure is obtained at room temperature. The austenitic structure provided at room temperature provides high strength, plastic deformation of materials and good corrosion resistance. Mechanical strength cannot be increased by heat treatment, but; It can be increased by cold forming. These types of steels, which are normally non-magnetic, can gain partial magnetic properties with cold forming.

They have good weldability, good low temperature impact resistance, hygienic.

Some Uses: Machinery and manufacturing industry, food processing equipment, architectural applications ...

4. Ferritic - Austenitic (Duplex) Stainless Steels

This type of steels have both austenitic and ferritic structure at the same time. Since they hold these two structures together, they provide both high hardness, strength and toughness properties at the same time. It has very good fatigue strength in corrosive environments, but also good weldability and shaping properties.

Some Areas of Usage: Sea and salt water environment, heat exchanger manufacturing, petrochemical industry ...

Resistance of Stainless Steels to Acids

Stainless steels are generally considered to be resistant to acids. However, this issue is closely related to steel type, concentration, type of acids and ambient temperature. For example, although 904 type stainless steels are resistant to high concentrations of sulfuric acids at room temperature, 304 grade stainless steel cannot withstand even low concentrations.

While 304L and 430 quality stainless steels are resistant to nitric acid, hydrochloric acid damages all stainless steels.

Strength of Stainless Steels to Bases

300 Series stainless steels can resist high concentrations of bases. However, the same series of stainless steels are not resistant to the stronger base Sodium Hydroxide.

The point to be considered here is the following;

Stainless steel should not mean that it will never rust. All types of stainless steel can be used for a long time without wearing if they are used in places suitable for their characteristics. But; If they are used in places that are not suitable for their mechanical and chemical strength, they lose their stainless feature.

Magnetic Properties of Stainless Steels

  • Martensitic and ferritic stainless steels are magnetic.
  • Austenitic stainless steels are not magnetic.
  • Cold-formed austenitic stainless steels gain some magnetic properties.

What can be understood from here is this;

If an austenitic stainless steel holds the magnet, it means it is cold formed.

Cleaning

Stainless steels should be cleaned before use. Contaminated deposits on the surfaces of this type of steel can cause the stainless steel to corrode in the future. Cleaning can be done with a clean cloth and water or special cleaning solutions. However, the point to be considered here is the removal of solvent or water residues from the surface after cleaning. Because the water droplets on the surface can corrode the steel locally.

In addition, contact of stainless steels with soil should be prevented during storage and carbon steels should be kept away from the places where they are stored or processed. Because when any carbon steel chips come into contact with stainless steel, rust can start on stainless steel. For example; If the purchased stainless pipes are stored in such a way that the soil will be exposed to rain on the ground, some rainwater will accumulate in the pipes, if the wet parts of the pipe are not dried in the following days, the inner surfaces of the pipe or water puddles will start to rust on the remaining contact points.

Another example to be given regarding the corrosion of stainless materials is as follows;

For example, stainless steel material pipes will be installed in a factory. These pipes are integrated into a carrier frame during the installation phase and during the assembly. The skeleton part that will carry the pipes is generally made of carbon steel material. Due to the nature of the assembly, stainless steel pipes will contact the carbon steel bearing frame and will use it as such. It is of great importance to take precautions about these issues. Because, if carbon steel is in contact with stainless steel, there will be an interaction between them and thus, corrosion will start from the contact points. In the later stages, there is an increase in rusting and the pipes can come to the point of puncture. In order to avoid this, it is inevitable for the assembly company to take some precautions.

Stainless steel pipes must not come into contact with the carbon steel carrier frame during installation. In order to prevent rusting, contact can be prevented by placing plastic materials on the contact points.

The misconception in use is that they think that this type of steel will never rust. If stainless steels are not kept in an isolated environment, they will rust after a certain period of time.

The benches are generally made of polyethylene material, which is a rust and stain resistant and easy-to-clean material, and the entire production stage is carried out in accordance with international quality standards. All our bench models are made of long-lasting material. It is resistant to water and external factors. It is not affected by being kept in water for a long time.

International Standards Organization

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is an international organization that was officially established in Geneva on 23 February 1947 to carry out the work of setting standards in all technical and non-technical branches, except for electrical and electronic engineering issues that fall within the scope of the International Organization for Standardization, the International Electrotechnical Commission. .

The number of member countries of the International Standards Organization is 162. National units, which are members of the organization, are the most authoritative organizations in their countries regarding standards. All countries are represented by a competent body in the organization.

As UnPlast, there are bench models with different dimensions and functions according to the need in the polyethylene bench category. As UnPlast, the leading brand in the production of product washing and cleaning benches, we can ship our products to all over Turkey.
